Martin Webb - Best Mayor for Sussex - 'Save the Floral Clock'.

 

Sussex is a county rich with heritage, traditions and unique characteristics.
As mayor I'd do everything possible to protect our history, heritage buildings and landscapes.
That's why I'm fully behind the campaign to save Hove's famous floral clock at Palmeira Square. It's been a much loved feature for decades.
The council are now citing costs savings as a reason to rip it out and replace it with a bland alternative.
I say that's wrong. Other solutions are possible that wouldn't result in the permanent destruction of this quintessential 'Hove, actually' landmark.

The Unnamed Man is Ivor Caplin.

A man arrested in Brighton earlier this year on suspicion of a child sex offence has been named in multiple reports as Ivor Caplin, a former Labour MP and defence minister. Arrest and Bail. On 11 January 2025, Sussex Police detained a 66-year-old man on suspicion of engaging in online sexual communications with a child. The arrest was filmed and circulated widely on social media, sparking public discussion. A Sussex Police spokeswoman confirmed at the time: “We are aware of footage circulating on social media showing a man in Brighton being detained on suspicion of engaging in online sexual communications with a child. This is an ongoing and active investigation.” The man was later released on bail.
